365 TUESDAY!!!

Ok, so I didn't post my 365 pictures on Sunday because I didn't have time, so we are having 365 Tuesday this week. Here ya go...

Wednesday January 21, 2009-
So, this was the day that I went to observe my kindergarten class for the first time! Here is a picture of my school! :) GO PIRATES!

Friday January 23, 2009-
Today was my LAST day of college classes ever. After my class, all the professors in the education department got together and put on a little "going away" lunch for us. They said that this was their way of letting us go! I am so blessed to have such great professors that care so much. I also went to Hunter's basketball game that I blogged about earlier. Here are pictures of me on my last day of class and Hunter playing basketball.

Saturday January 24, 2009-
I was in Snyder and got to eat at one of my new favorite places! The Big Apple Deli recently opened in Snyder, and I love everything about this place. The food is great, the atmosphere is great, and it is right next door to the Manhattan Coffeehouse. So, you have everything you need right there. After we ate, we went to listen to The Jeff Johnson Band lead worship and Ky Martin speak at the Disciple Now event at our church. That was an amazing experience. Sunday January 25, 2009-
Sunday was a day to just hang out and finish up some last minute paperwork for school. It was the last day of D-Now at our church, so we went and listened to the band and Ky speak again on Sunday morning.

Monday January 26, 2009- Today was the first official day of student teaching. It was not bad at all! We do some really great activities. My students are all so sweet and funny. We did have someone have a potty accident, but other than that, everything was smooth! Here is a picture of my new home for the next 6 weeks...

Tuesday January 27, 2009-
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! It is sooooo cold outside! I woke up this morning hoping that school would be delayed today, but it wasn't! It took me forever to get to school because the roads were icy. My teacher was administering a practice TAKS test today, so I was in the classroom with a sub. The poor sub had never been in kindergarten, so it was like the blind leading the blind with us two! It was crazy, and the kids were so talkative and wound up. I am exhausted today, so I will be in bed early tonight! School is delayed until 10 tomorrow morning, so I'm hoping for an extra hour of sleep!! Here is the view from my apartment...

I am starting to understand all the fun things in the blog world. I can't wait to share all these fun experiences with you all...

What A Weekend...

Wow! I have had a great weekend! I came to Snyder to watch Hunter play basketball on Friday afternoon. This would be the last game I would be able to watch since I start student teaching tomorrow. He played great and scored 19 points!!! Woo hoo!! They actually won their game, and that was amazing because they haven't won many games this year.

Most of the day Saturday was spent doing my last paper! I had to write my philosophy of education which wasn't that hard because I have strong beliefs when it comes to education. Anyway, that's for another time! Then, last night we went to church because this weekend was also D-Now. This year was a little different--it wasn't just for youth; it was for the WHOLE church--young children, youth, adults etc. The Jeff Johnson Band led worship and Ky Martin spoke, and they were both awesome. There were many lessons that were learned, and I am excited about the direction God is taking me...

I am supposed to be doing my Project 365 photos for the week, but I have limited time and I won't get to do it until tomorrow or maybe even Tuesday! I have been getting everything ready for student teaching tomorrow, and that has taken all day! So, stay tuned for those pictures!

I will be writing tomorrow after I am done at school. Keep me in your thoughts tomorrow as I start my new adventure with my kindergarteners!

Thankful Thursday

So, today I am going to copy something that my great friend (and hairdresser), Natalie, does. Every Thursday she lists everything that she is thankful for. I thought this was a great idea--a great time to reflect and look at all the wonderful things that I have been blessed with. So, here it goes...

I am thankful for my almighty God that I serve. Since the beginning of the year, I have been reading the bible through chronologically. I have already learned so much just by reading some of Genesis and Job.

I am thankful for my wonderful friends and family that support me through everything. I don't think that I could have made it through school without the love and support that they have given me.

With that said, I am so thankful that tomorrow is my last day of college classes EVER! I have one more class to go to, and we are going to have a "last lunch" before everyone goes off for student teaching. I have enjoyed these past two semesters because I have been in the same classes with the exact same people, and this has given me a great opportunity to build GREAT friendships with everyone in my class.

Lastly, I am so thankful that Zach's brother, Josh, has come to from his a coma. He woke up this morning and recognized everyone, and later this afternoon, he started moving his legs and arms. His kidneys still are not functioning and he is doing dialysis treatments for now. Keep praying that the doctors find a solution soon! Thank you all for praying for him.

I am also going to start thing fun new adventure called Project 365. I got the idea from Darla's blog. Sundays will be "365 days," and I will upload any pictures from the week that I haven't already blogged about. This will be a great way to share what has been going on in my life! :) Let's just see if I can keep up with it!

Obama's First Day in Office and My First Day in Kindergarten...

I honestly don't know which is harder--running a country or running a kindergarten class with 21 students. I went to my school today to observe my kindergarten class that I will be in for six weeks during student teaching, which starts on Monday. I am absolutely worn out! I have never seen so much nose picking, open mouth coughing, or wedgie grabbing, but I loved every minute of it!

I am student teaching at a great school. I am at the BRAND NEW elementary school in the Lubbock-Cooper district. I have been extremely blessed with two amazing teachers to work with also. I will be in kindergarten for the first six weeks and second grade for the last six weeks. This school is AMAZING! It has the newest technology, great closet space, and a Sonic ice machine in the teacher's lounge! :) What more could I ask for??!!?

Overall, I had a great day full of adventure in kindergarten. These sweet babies are so eager to learn, and they all crave attention, so I hope that I will be able to help them learn as best I can.

Also, for all you prayer warriors out there, remember my dear friend Zach Gilbert and his family. His brother is in the hospital up here in a coma, and his kidneys are shutting down, and the doctors are not sure why. Pray for God's healing hands to be on Josh, for wisdom for Josh's doctors, and for peace for the Gilbert family.

I have enjoyed my new blog journey so far. Now, I'm ready for the future...

Here We Go...

Well, I finally have jumped on the blog band-wagon! I decided to go ahead and make one because it seems like everyone has one now. I am slowly figuring everything out, and I am excited to start this!

I am in my last week of college classes...EVER! I officially start student teaching full time next Monday, and I am so ready for it. I figured that my life is about to start getting more hectic, and this blog would be a great opportunity for me to record my special memories and events that happen within the next few months/years!

It's a new year, and I am just getting around to setting my new "goals" for the year--keeping up this blog is one of them.

I am excited about my new journey in 2009! Here we go...
